Will I require anything before my dog starts walking with you?
After the meet and greet you should have everything required. Your dog must have a collar or harness with an identification tag. You collar must be safely and securely fitted. If your dog is on a specific diet, I may take some as a treat whilst out walking. For dogs with no specific dietary requirements I usually have a pretty full pocket of yummy treats! I will supply poo bags during my dog walker outings.
What will happen with my house key?
Your key will be kept in a locked cabinet when not being used and away from any personal information. It will not be labelled with your name or any other personal details but will be numbered.
What sort of transport do you have?
I have a Nissan Qashqai. For security reasons I do not have any signs on my car that could advertise you are away on holiday or out of the house for a period of time.
Will you let my dog off the lead?
Dogs will only be walked off lead with written consent. Firstly they must be able to demonstrate a firm recall has been established.
Will my dog be walked on its own?
If you request your dog to be walked on its own then yes of course this can be catered for. If there is no specific reason to walk your dog individually then I will try and match them up with another dog(s). I will take into consideration breed, age, sex and personality. I will only ever walk a maximum of 3 dogs at once. We all like to socialise and have fun and what better way to achieve this! Should your dog find a friend then I will endeavour to find out who lives closest to the best walk for them.
Where will you walk my dog?
My best answer is locally. There is lots of beautiful countryside around the Cliff Villages and I aim to use it well. I will try not to use the car for various reasons, but this may not always be possible and your dog may need to be transported to go and collect his new buddy.
If I go away on holiday could you walk my dog for me?
Unfortunately, not. You would need to look for a kennels or a home boarder. However If you go away for the day then yes definitely! I provide a dog walker and dog sitter service for this very thing.
Do you walk bitches in season?
No, unfortunately I don’t.
Would you be able to check on my pets in the evening and at weekends and Bank holidays?
Yes! After all, we all like to go away for a lovely weekend! Please contact me for prices. I offer cat home visit service and a pet home visit service for an array of small animals.
What happens in extreme weather?
In the event of extreme heat I will not walk dogs! Offering this could be endangering your dog. Many people want their dog to be walked mid-day if they are out working for the day, this is simply not possible and can have devastating affects on the dog. I will spend time with your dog inside where hopefully it is cooler. Activities indoors under these circumstances could potentially involve playing games for mental stimulation. An earlier or later walk maybe possible because of the weather. However this decision would need to be taken on a day to day basis. I will not be persuaded into anything that I think puts your pet at risk.
Snow. We all know what the snows like on the A607! It can cause problems.
In short I will endeavor to make all scheduled appointments however on rare exceptions this may not always be possible. I would aim to give as much notice as possible in either case so you could make further arrangements.
Normal rain will not put me off my dog walker duties, I love walking dogs. I have a cracking pair of wellies and full waterproofs.
What if I need to cancel?
I ask for a minimum of 24 hour’s notice prior to any cancellations please, I do however fully understand that people do become sick and therefore on occasion this cannot be helped.
What happens if my pet becomes ill whilst you are looking after him/her?
In an emergency I will take your pet directly to your veterinary hospital or surgery . I will therefore request details of your veterinary hospital or surgery . If I believe you pet requires an appointment, I shall contact you on one of your emergency numbers and discuss this with you. I will do whatever is needed to maintain the health and happiness of your pet whilst you are not with them. Please note that you will be responsible for all veterinary fees.
Are you fully insured?
